{"id":28,"date":"2020-05-24T10:43:31","date_gmt":"2020-05-24T10:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chernykh.legal\/?page_id=28"},"modified":"2026-02-23T20:12:29","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T20:12:29","slug":"research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.chernykh.legal\/?page_id=28","title":{"rendered":"Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>More broadly, I research questions related to the interpretation of legal texts (contract interpretation, treaty interpretation, statutory interpretation) and the intersections between national law and international law in international adjudication.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I also work with international commercial law, international investment law, private international law, comparative law, contract law, sports law, legal history, and theory.<\/p>\n<p>I have co-lead and contributed to research projects, including projects funded by the Research Council of Norway and supported through programmes such as the Nansen programme. From 2022 to 2025, I contributed to the research project <em>Compliance Politics and International Investment Disputes<\/em> (COPIID) at the University of Oslo (PluriCourts), funded by the Research Council of Norway. The project has generated publications in leading journals, including <em>JIEL<\/em>, <em>EJIL<\/em> and <em>JIDS<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside my research work, I hold several leadership and advisory roles. I have served on the Steering Committee of the ISDS Academic Forum, on the Advisory Board of a British Institute of Comparative and International Law (BIICL) project on judicial training and on the task force of the Roma Tre\u2013UNIDROIT Centre on international investment contracts.<\/p>\n<p>I also serve as an Editorial Board Member of the <em>Journal of World Investment and Trade<\/em> (Brill), Co-Rapporteur for the International Law Association\u2019s Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution in International Law, responsible editor for sports law at<em> Store norske leksikon<\/em> (Great Norwegian Encyclopedia), and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Norwegian Arbitration Association.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As a visiting scholar or researcher, I have conducted research at various universities and research centres, including:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Hamburg)<\/li>\n<li>European University Institute (EUI)<\/li>\n<li>Vienna University<\/li>\n<li>The University of Copenhagen (iCourts)<\/li>\n<li>The Max Planck Institute for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law (Luxembourg)<\/li>\n<li>Stockholm University<\/li>\n<li>Heidelberg University<\/li>\n<li>The University of Cambridge (Lauterpacht Centre for International Law)<\/li>\n<li>The Scientific and Research Institute of Private Law and Entrepreneurship named after Academician F.G.
